Sidewalk improvements begin this week on Treasure Island

Our #NBV Commission held a ceremonial groundbreaking to kick-off the start of the project. What an exciting time for our Village!
The project began on Harbor Island in 2021, where cracked and uneven sidewalks were replaced throughout the Island. Including curbs, gutters, as well as installing new ramps and sidewalks following ADA standards.
Now, the project continues on Treasure Island. New construction will upgrade sidewalks, install audible beacons for safe crossing for pedestrians and all crosswalks will meet ADA requirements not completed during the first phase.
This project was funded by the FL Department of Transportation, the FL Inland Navigation District (FIND), and NBV. Thank you to Senator Shevrin ‘Shev’ Jones (D), Rep. Fabian Basabe (R), and FIND Commissioner Spencer Crowley for supporting this project.
Thank you, Mayor Brent Latham, Vice Mayor Richard Chervony, Commissioner Goran Cuk, Commissioner Andy Daro, and Commissioner Rachel Streitfeld for lobbying the legislature for the funding. Because of their hard work, NBV was awarded 3 state appropriations resulting in $1 million for Village projects.
Thank you Village Manager Dr. Ralph Rosado and Village Engineer/Capital Improvements Project Manager Delroy Peters.
There will be temporary road closures and suspended parking during this time.
