Charter Review Board

The purpose of the Charter Review Board is to evaluate and make recommendations on amendments to the Village Charter that are then presented to the Village Commission for further review. Upon approval, a referendum is held where an amendment is presented to the electorate for final adoption.
The Charter of the Village must be reviewed six (6) years from November 8, 2000, and each sixth year thereafter by an Advisory Charter Review Board Appointed by the Commission with a minimum of five (5) members with at least one (1) representative from each island; any proposed revisions to the Charter must meet the approval of the qualified electors of the Village at an election to be held at the same time as the regularly scheduled municipal Commission election immediately following each sixth year Charter review.
