North Bay Village has ongoing Capital Improvement Projects that serve to improve our livability, resilience, and prosperity.

Projects in NBV are guided through the NBV100 Master Plan, which is equipping North Bay Village with the tools to become a more livable, sustainable and prosperous community that can adapt to the challenges of a changing climate.

Current Projects*

Bus Shelters along 79th Street Causeway – Bus shelters in the Village will be redesigned to match the new Village branding.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2022
• Construction – starting by December 2022 and finishing in 2025-2026

Civic Park on East Drive – To give residents access to Biscayne Bay intercostal waterways by constructing a civic park with boating dock, picnic area with pavilion, nature trail with signage, lighting, landscaping, and a bike rack.
Timeline:
• Design/Permitting – finishing by September 2022
• Bidding/Construction – to be determined

Harbor Island Beautification – Improve green spaces by planting trees that will enlarge the canopy—creating more shade and reducing heat island effects while enhancing the aesthetic beauty of East and West Drive.
Timeline:
• Design – not required
• Bidding/Construction – finished by September 2022

Harbor Island Roadway Improvements – Includes roadway reconstruction, milling, repaving and landscaping elements. Design to provide for drainage, traffic control, traffic calming, and enhanced pedestrian accessibility & walkability.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2022
• Bidding/Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2024

Island Walk & Bridge Connector – Design and build an Island Walk bordering the northern boundaries of Treasure Island, raise the seawall along this border and build an over-water connector that links the South and North Island Walk plazas.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2022
• Bidding/Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2024

Island Walk North Plaza (Baywalk North Plaza) – Design an Island Walk Plaza area, approximately 180 linear feet along the northern strip of Kennedy Causeway, starting from the East Biscayne Bay bascule bridge.
Timeline:
• Design – complete
• Bidding/Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2024

Kennedy Causeway Complete Streets Study – Conduct a Lane Reduction Study along Kennedy Causeway, which will include traffic analysis.
Timeline:
• Design – not required
• Bidding/Construction – not required
• Report – finishing by September 2022 (90% complete)

Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study – Develop a Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study (SSES) Reports based on flow data collected from the VILLAGE’s sanitary sewer collection system. Report must meet DERM requirements for infiltration & inflow (I/I).
Timeline:
• Design – not required
• Bidding/Construction – not required
• Report – finishing by September 2022 (90% complete)

ADA Sidewalk Improvements on Harbor Island and Treasure Island – Repair and replace cracked and uneven sidewalks, curbs and gutters, install new ramps and sidewalks following ADA standards on Treasure Island and Harbor Island.
Timeline:
• Design – complete
• Bidding/Construction – finishing by September 2022 (98% complete)

Stormwater Master Plan Improvements – Develop a Village-wide Stormwater Master Plan (SWMP) that will enable the Village to assess the existing stormwater infrastructure, evaluate current and future drainage conditions, determine allowable level of flooding and identify improvements to address future rain, flood, and water quality concerns based on scientifically-backed projections and state-of-the-art modeling tools.
Timeline:
• Report – finishing by September 2022 (80% complete)
• Design – scope and dates to be determined
• Bidding/Construction – scope and dates to be determined

Stormwater Pump Station Improvements for North Bay Island – Repair and replace the North Bay Island Stormwater Pump Station.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2023
• Bidding/Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2024

Treasure Island ADA Improvements-Phase 2 – Repair and replace cracked and uneven sidewalks, curbs and gutters, install new ramps and sidewalks, and install flasher beacons on Kennedy Causeway intersections following ADA standards.
Timeline:
• Design – complete
• Construction – starting by end of 2022 and finishing in 2023

Treasure Island Elementary School Community Park – Preparation of permit and bid documents for the complete design and construction administration for a multi-purpose park to include renovation of multi-purpose field, hard tennis courts, new fencing, urban trail, landscaping and additional park amenities.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2023
• Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2025

Treasure Island Roadway Improvements – Roadway reconstruction, milling, repaving and landscaping elements. Design to provide for drainage, traffic control, traffic calming, pedestrian accessibility and landscaping elements.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2023
• Construction – starting by end of 2023 and finishing in 2025

Vogel Park Marine Facility – Develop an assessment to determine the feasibility of a marine facility at Vogel Park to include a police boat dock and a kayak launch site for residential use.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2022
• Construction – starting in 2023 and finishing in 2024

Wastewater Pump Station Improvements – Evaluating the existing wastewater pumping and control systems for improved performance and efficiency, evaluating the current wastewater system flow patterns, analyzing pump station capacities, reviewing pump station operation for connection to the Village’s existing force main system, and replacing the existing pump station building on Galleon Street with a new submersible pump station for improved site development opportunities.
Timeline:
• Design – finishing by September 2022
• Construction – starting by end of 2022 and finishing in 2023

Public Works Building-AFA Development – P3 agreement to develop a facility to house an international Football training complex, community center and exercise trail, incorporating the Treasure Island Elementary School complex.
Timeline:
• Design – to be determined
• Bidding/Construction – to be determined
