North Bay Village, FL – The North Bay Village Police Department has apprehended a juvenile suspect responsible for setting three vehicles and one residence, on the 7500 block of Mutiny Avenue on fire, on Friday, February 28, 2025. The fires, which began shortly after 1:00 PM, caused damages estimated in the tens of thousands of dollars.
NBVPD officers and detectives launched an immediate investigation alongside Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Arson Unit. Through neighborhood canvassing and analysis of surveillance footage from multiple locations, NBVPD detectives tracked the suspect to a high-rise apartment building on South Treasure Drive, less than a mile from the scene.
Working with building management, NBVPD investigators identified the suspect, established surveillance, and successfully apprehended the suspect without incident. The Miam-Dade Sheriff’s Office Arson Unit obtained the suspect’s confession during questioning and the suspect was subsequently charged by the MDSO. The juvenile confessed to starting all four fires due to frustration over a school sports matter.
The suspect has been charged with multiple counts of arson and burglary and transported to the Dade County Juvenile Assessment Center.
