NBV leaders meeting with County leaders to address ways to resolve unlawful and unpleasant jet-ski-related safety in our Bay

NBV leaders & Miami-Dade County leaders met via Zoom for the second time to address ways to curtail unlawful, unsafe and unpleasant jet-ski-related safety that affects our quality of life and environment. Last month, during the first meeting, Village Mayor Brent Latham asked for increased vigilance and enforcement near Pelican Harbor Marina. Our residents and elected officials constantly observe jet-ski operators, often unlicensed, not following maritime laws in our backyards. County Commissioner Micky Steinberg organized this meeting to introduce several potential changes that can be done to prevent this from happening in our Bay. Leaders discussed resolutions like revising the County’s noise ordinance and slower speed limits. Mayor Brent Latham, Commissioner Rachel Streitfeld, Village Manager Dr. Ralph Rosado, NBVPD Chief Carlos Noriega, and Deputy Chief Samuel Bejar attended the virtual meeting alongside countless Miami-Dade County officials. Our Village leaders and County leaders will meet in a month to discuss the next steps.
