One question keeps coming up from our residents:
“When will the Community Center be fully open?”
It’s a great question — and one we want to answer. Below is a look at where things stand, what’s left to do, and how you can help shape what’s next for the Brent W. Latham Community Center.
Where We Stand
The Brent W. Latham Community Center is currently under a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) — a permit that allows temporary, limited access inside the building before it earns full, final approval. This TCO runs for 30 days, from July 9 to August 9, and it’s why individual events such as our Book Bags & School Supplies giveaway were able to happen there safely.
It’s a real sign of progress, but a TCO isn’t sustainable for long-term operation. We want every visit to be permanently deemed safe and permit-approved before we welcome you in for good.
What’s Left Before We Open
1. Completing Construction from the Punch List
A punch list is the final round of items that need to be addressed before a building is turned over to the owner from the contractor — things like touch-up work, minor repairs, and confirming that every system (electrical, plumbing, fixtures) functions properly. It’s a standard step in construction and closing it out is what allows a project to move from nearly finished to fully complete.
2. Securing our Certificate of Occupancy (CO)
Right now, we’re working under a temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO). The final CO is the official green light from the county confirming the building meets every safety and building code. Once we have it in hand, the center can open its doors for good.
3. Furnishing the Brent W. Latham Community Center
An empty building doesn’t feel like a Community Center — it needs the items that make it usable and welcoming. That means getting furniture, equipment, and everyday essentials in place so that when you walk in, it actually feels ready for you.
Padel, Pickleball & Soccer Fields
The Soccer Fields and Padel/Pickleball courts have been on everyone’s mind. The fields and courts will be run exclusively by PFL and are expected to be open for use and rental by mid-August. To secure a spot, residents and non-residents alike will need to download the Playtomic app to make a reservation.

- Minimum of 8 people required for a 5x5 soccer field
- Saturday – Sunday: 10:30am – 10:30pm
- Only residents play for free; non-residents will be charged
