As construction continues on the new Community Center, the Village is making several temporary adjustments and improvements at Phillip Schonberger Memorial Park (1841 Galleon Street) to ensure the park remains an open, welcoming and functional space for the community.
What’s Happening:
* A new replacement pavilion is being constructed in the northeast corner of the park
* Community book library will be relocated beneath the pavilion
* Three play structures are also being relocated within the park
What to Expect:
Temporary fencing has been installed around portions of the park to create a safe work area while crews construct the new pavilion, relocate park amenities and restore the book library. The park remains available for community use outside of the designated construction areas.
These changes are temporary and are directly related to construction of the Community Center. Once construction activities allow, the park will transition back to its full configuration.
The park improvement work is estimated to be completed Fall 2026.
A message from the Village:
North Bay Village knows how much our residents value their parks and public spaces and we understand that temporary construction can be an inconvenience. We appreciate residents’ patience as this project moves forward. These improvements are part of the larger effort to bring the new Community Center to life while continuing to preserve the neighborhood spaces residents know and love. We look forward to welcoming residents back to the fully restored park, complete with its new pavilion, relocated community library and three play structures.
