Residents in single-family homes in North Bay Village will now see new stickers on their blue recycling bins, and we want to explain why. Our Public Works team is applying these educational stickers as part of Miami-Dade County’s recycling education initiative. North Bay Village is proudly participating in this county-wide program to help residents understand what belongs in their recycling carts.
Recycle ONLY these materials to keep your cart happy:
-Glass food & beverage containers (clear, green, brown)
-Aluminum & steel food/beverage cans
-Plastic containers with narrow necks (milk, water, juice, soda, detergent, shampoo, bleach)
-Newspapers, catalogs, magazines, cereal & food boxes, telephone books, corrugated cardboard, mail & office paper
-Aseptic/gable-top containers (milk, juice boxes)
Why it matters: When non-recyclable items contaminate our recycling carts, it makes recycling more expensive and less effective for our entire community.
Remember: When in doubt, throw it out! It’s better to put questionable items in regular trash than contaminate the recycling stream
More detailed information will be included in your utility bills this month – keep an eye out!
