North Bay Village Police Department Excels in State Traffic Safety Challenge

The Village Police Department has achieved a remarkable second place finish in the 2024 Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge, a prestigious statewide competition. This outstanding accomplishment highlights the department’s commitment to enhancing road safety and protecting our community.
The Traffic Safety Challenge is part of the Florida Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) Program, a grant-funded initiative sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The program aims to foster partnerships with law enforcement agencies to boost participation in state and national traffic enforcement waves and mobilizations.
This challenge evaluates law enforcement agencies across Florida on their efforts to improve traffic safety through education, enforcement, and engineering. By promoting awareness and participation in traffic safety-related efforts, the program plays a crucial role in making Florida’s roads safer for all users.
Our police department’s comprehensive approach, spearheaded by the dedicated Traffic Team, has proven to be highly effective in aligning with these goals and making our streets safer.
“As a result of our continued and unwavering quest to pursue excellence with all areas of our profession, the NBVPD placed second in the state with the 2024 Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge. This is the highest our Agency has ever placed with this competition and our goal now is to finish first next year. I’m extremely proud of the comprehensive Department-wide efforts, especially by the members of our Traffic Team, with this critically important area of public safety. Our Village is a much safer place as a result of these efforts,” said Chief Carlos Noriega.
The second-place finish is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire police force. Their proactive strategies, community engagement, and innovative programs have significantly contributed to reducing traffic-related incidents and promoting safe driving practices throughout the Village.
Residents can take pride in knowing that their police department is among the best in the state when it comes to traffic safety initiatives. This recognition not only boosts morale within the force but also reinforces public confidence in our law enforcement’s capabilities.
As we congratulate our NBVPD on this significant achievement, we look forward to their continued success in making our Village an even safer place to live, work, and visit, while contributing to the broader statewide efforts to improve traffic safety.
