Civic Park Utility Boxes

North Bay Village continues to make the Village more beautiful and vibrant with another new public art installation. The latest addition is a colorfully painted Florida Power & Light utility box located next to Civic Park, created by the artist duo known as ‘We Are Nice ‘N Easy.’
The artists, who have completed major murals and installations throughout South Florida, have transformed what was once a drab utility box into an eye-catching work of art. Using bold colors and patterns and staying with the Village’s brand guidelines, the piece adds a bright spot of beauty for residents and visitors to enjoy.
“Public art plays such an important role in energizing our community and making art accessible to all, said Commissioner Goran Cuk, who sponsored the project. This is just the latest example of North Bay Village’s commitment to supporting the arts and creating an environment we can all appreciate.”
We Are Nice ‘N Easy have developed a signature style blending graphic elements, typography, and abstract shapes into visually striking murals. Their work can be seen on buildings, businesses, other unexpected canvases across the region.
“Our goal is to keep enhancing North Bay Village with amazing art works like this one that the whole community can enjoy,” said Cuk. The Village has more projects in the pipeline aimed at continuing to beautify public spaces.
By transforming ordinary infrastructure into art pieces, NBV makes art more accessible to residents of all ages while simultaneously upgrading the surroundings. Keep an eye out for more public art popping up around North Bay Village soon!

We are nice’n easy is a collaborative endeavor by artists Allison Matherly (b.1990) and Jeffrey Noble (b.1987). Matherly received her BFA in installation and sculpture from the school of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in 2012. Noble received his BFA in painting from new world school of the arts in Miami, FL in 2013. The now husband and wife duo met in Miami, FL while working at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami and began collaborating under the name, we are nice’n easy. Focused on creating immersive mixed media installations, works in sculpture, painting, design and murals, nice’n easy develops a visually cohesive subtropical vernacular with their material choices and use of repeated motifs. Often referencing themes of self-help, recovery and interpersonal dependency, their fabricated environments utilize romantic tropes, pop culture iconography, and the aesthetics of wellness culture to enhance the collective emotive truisms between participants and create a platform for intimate exchange.
We are nice’n easy maintains a studio in Miami and has exhibited works at locust projects, spinello projects, art and cultural center of Hollywood, young at art museum and the bass museum. They have realized several public art projects throughout South Florida commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary art North Miami, Miami-Dade art in public places, Miami Beach art in public places, Broward public art & design, downtown Hollywood mural project among other private commissions. Their mural off the deep end won the Miami new times “best mural” of 2017, they were winners of a south Florida cultural consortium grant in 2018, they were awarded a fellowship as artists in residence in everglades in 2019 and were recipients of a Miami individual artists grant in 2023.
