Two NBVPD Officers selected to receive May Officers of the Month Award by MDCACP

Our NBVPD is proud to announce that two of our Officers have been selected to receive the prestigious Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police Officers of the Month Award for May 2023. Corporal David Floyd and Officer Marcel Ascanio were nominated by Chief Carlos Noriega for their heroic actions that saved a man’s life on April 4th.
Both Corporal Floyd and Officer Ascanio responded to a call inside a home where a man was unresponsive in apparent respiratory arrest. Ascanio took command of the situation and began to triage the victim. He was joined by Floyd, and they determined the victim was in cardiac arrest. While Floyd tended to the preparation of the automated external defibrillator, Ascanio began CPR, and after a series of chest compressions, the victim regained his pulse and started to breathe. The victim was later transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital. We are proud of the swift, decisive, and immediate life-saving actions of both Ascanio and Floyd. The NBVPD and Corporal Floyd, and Officer Ascanio will be recognized at the MDCACP Awards dinner this week.
