Majestic Isle Residents

North Bay Village, FL – Village officials received a letter late Wednesday night, April 19th, from a
building engineer retained by the Majestic Isle Condominium Association to perform a building
recertification at 7946 East Drive, the Majestic Isle Condominium. The official inspected the
property on April 14th in anticipation of the required 60-year building certification. A recent leak
from a roof drain caused a partial ceiling collapse last week, and residents from five units were
evacuated.
The building engineer shared a report raising serious concerns with the current conditions of
the building, citing sagging floors and termite damage. North Bay Village officials went door-todoor notifying residents that the building has been deemed structurally unsafe and will require
all residents to be evacuated by Tuesday, April 25th before 10:00 AM.
The Majestic Isle Condominium was built in 1960 and has 36 units total and just about 55
residents. Due to last week’s flooding causing a partial ceiling collapse in several units, only 31
units are occupied at this time. Residents will be allowed back inside at a later date for a
complete move out. North Bay Village Police Department will be monitoring the move out and
will conduct it in a staggered fashion, allowing only a few units per day, with light loads.
Village officials and Majestic Isle board members will be holding an emergency meeting in the
parking lot of 7946 East Drive on Thursday, April 20th at 7:00 P.M. The Village has reached out
to multiple agencies for assistance and will have representatives from the Miami-Dade County
Office of Housing Advocacy and the Homeless Trust present to assist displaced families.
“North Bay Village and the community are stepping up to help displaced residents until they can
come back home,” said North Bay Village Mayor Brent Latham. “We are here for the affected
residents for as long as they need us, to help see them through this difficult time.”
The Village is also offering help to families through a Village fund that will accept donations for
families who are displaced.
