$150,000 Donation for NBV Police Vessel

North Bay Village, FL – The North Bay Village Police Department is purchasing a new state-of-the art marine patrol vessel, thanks to the generous donation of $150,000 from Mr. Jas Mathur, a Canadian Venture Capitalist and Entrepreneur.

Mathur’s commitment to law enforcement extends beyond North Bay Village. He recently donated to the Broward Sheriff’s office and to the families of fallen FBI Special Agents Laura Schwartzenberger and Daniel Alfin.

“We are happy to welcome Jas to our community and appreciate his support to our profession,” said NBV Police Chief Carlos Noriega. “This donation by Mr. Mathur will help us keep our jurisdictional waterway safe while giving our police officers peace of mind to perform their duties with a modern patrol vessel.”

The NBV Police Department currently has one marine patrol vessel, which will soon be decommissioned.

Mayor Brent Latham stated, “We are grateful to have influential and dedicated community partners like Jas, who walk the talk in backing local law enforcement. This generous donation will also support North Bay Village in our ongoing efforts in stewardship of the bay, and protection of the beautiful waters that surround our islands.”

Mr. Jas Mathur presented his check donation to Police Chief Noriega, Mayor Latham, Vice Mayor Wilmoth, Village Commission, and Village Manager Rosado at a recent visit to North Bay Village
