North Bay Village, FL-In a historic first, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homeland Security Bureau has invited the North Bay Village Police Department (NBVPD) to participate in the security detail for the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States in Washington, D.C.
Ten NBVPD Officers will join law enforcement agencies nationwide to assist security during this historic event. The Team will depart from Fort Lauderdale Airport on Saturday, January 18, and return on Tuesday, January 21.
“We are honored to have been invited by the Metropolitan Police Department, Homeland Security Bureau, to attend this unique National event and assist with providing the necessary assistance posed by the many challenging security demands involved,” said Chief Carlos Noriega. “In addition to joining a handful of local agencies from Miami-Dade County tasked with similar assignments, we are excited to join the many other law Enforcement Agencies from around the country, which will also provide security for this major event.”
This unprecedented opportunity marks the largest representation from North Bay Village and a first for its Police Department at a presidential inauguration. The North Bay Village Commission and Administration express their pride in the Department’s selection for this prestigious assignment.
Chief Noriega will be available this week for media inquiries regarding the Department’s role in the inauguration security detail and to provide insights into the responsibilities that his officers will undertake while in Washington, D.C.
The inauguration will take place on Monday, January 20, in Washington, D.C.
