Thank you to everyone who reported the deceased manatee located just outside of North Bay Village’s jurisdictional waters. The Village attempted to have the appropriate authorities respond to remove the manatee, but we did not receive an immediate response. We’d like to thank Police Chief Noriega, who promptly coordinated through our Marine Patrol to respond and successfully remove the deceased manatee. In addition, we’d like to thank Sergeant Guevara, Officer Benítez, and Officer François for their assistance with this marine patrol assignment.

At this moment, the cause of death has not been determined.
