A King Tide is a higher-than-normal tidal flood that lasts about 3 hours. King Tides can cause flooding to occur even when it’s not raining. They occur annually and predictably, typically in September through November/December in Miami-Dade. High water levels caused by King Tides can cause flooding on low-lying streets, especially those near waterways and the coast. Remember that anything that comes into contact with flood waters should be washed immediately as flood waters can contain unseen hazards.
Here’s when to expect King Tides in North Bay Village:
September 8 – September 11
October 5 – 12
October 19 – 23
November 3 – 9
