After many years of dutiful service, the time has come for K-9 Officer Nico to retire

K-9 Officer Nico, a male Belgian Malinois, has been partnered with his handler, Officer Marcel Ascanio, since the inception of the K-9 program at the Village. During Tuesday’s regular Commission meeting, NBVPD Chief Noriega presented Officer Ascanio and Nico a plaque to honor their service as a team.

Nico will continue to live with Officer Ascanio as a retired Police K-9.

NBV is now in the midst of selecting a new K-9 team member.
