Accessibility Improvements Coming to Kennedy Causeway Crossings

An important community infrastructure project is now underway in the Village to enhance safety and accessibility for all residents crossing the causeway. Work has started on this exciting project and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The project will install new accessible pedestrian signals at several key crossing points along the causeway. These signals will include both audible and visual cues to assist residents with visual or hearing impairments when navigating the busy roadway.
Specific locations where the new accessibility upgrades will be installed include:
-Kennedy Causeway & Adventure Avenue
-Kennedy Causeway & Hispanola Avenue
-Kennedy Causeway 1800 Block Crossing
-Kennedy Causeway & East Treasure Drive
Improving safety and accessibility for all of our residents is a top priority for the Village. These new pedestrian signals will make a big difference in helping our disabled neighbors cross the causeway with confidence.
Approved Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans will help minimize disruptions to causeway traffic during the installation process. The Village asks for the community’s patience as this work is completed.
