NBVPD is Going Green With New Hybrid Police Cars

The North Bay Village Police Department is going green with the roll out of the first of 7 new 2023 Ford SUV Hybrid Police Interceptors.
The first vehicle has been assigned to Neighborhood Resource Officer Jessica Polanco. The next vehicles will be assigned to police patrol and the K-9 unit.
The interceptor has a heavy-duty suspension, heavy duty alternator, and different tuning for the engine and transmission. It has a high-capacity cooling system since the vehicles operate in a heavy-duty driving environment, and idle for extended periods of time.
The 2023 Ford Hybrid Police Interceptor Utility is powered by a standard 3.3 liter hybrid V-6 engine that puts out 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle averages 24 mpg, and 35% better idling fuel economy.
Estimated fuel cost savings are near $3,200 per year. The rest of the hybrid vehicles will arrive in the coming weeks.

Thank you to our NBVPD for going green!
